HomeCode of Conduct – Tangerine Retreat

Revision of the Code of Conduct on September 06, 2024

1. Respect and Dignity

At Tangerine Retreat, we prioritize respect and dignity among all participants and facilitators. Every individual’s experience is unique, and we honor the diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, and journeys. Participants and facilitators are expected to treat each other with kindness, respect, and understanding at all times.

2. Safety and Well-being

We conduct thorough physical and mental health screenings to ensure the safety of all participants. Our facilitators are experienced in providing appropriate support before, during, and after the retreat.

Participants are fully informed about the potential risks and benefits of engaging in a psilocybin experience. The participants agree to follow the facilitators’ instructions at all times and to honor any verbal or written consents they may provide.

3. Health Declarations

Participants are required to fully disclose their health status, including any existing medical conditions, current medications, and addictions, as well as any history of suicidal thoughts or behaviors and any family history of psychiatric disorders. If a participant plans to discontinue any medication before the retreat, this must be done under the supervision of a qualified medical professional. Full transparency is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved.

4. Boundaries and Ethics

Facilitators maintain clear and professional boundaries with participants. We are acutely aware of power dynamics and ensure that no participant feels pressured or coerced at any time. Romantic or sexual relationships between facilitators and participants are strictly prohibited. Participants’ autonomy is respected, and no one is compelled to partake in any activity against their will.

5. Confidentiality

Participants’ personal information is handled with the utmost care and in compliance with legal standards. Confidentiality is maintained throughout the retreat, and no nominative information is shared without explicit consent. Facilitators may share relevant information with other team members only when necessary. Facilitators ensure privacy and confidentiality before, during, and after retreats.

6. Preparation, Integration, and Aftercare

We provide comprehensive preparation and integration support to all participants. Facilitators are committed to helping participants process their experiences and offer guidance on integrating insights into their daily lives. If needed, facilitators will connect participants with external professionals for additional support.

7. Mindful Interaction

Facilitators practice mindful care when interacting with participants. Any physical interaction is approached with sensitivity and respect for personal boundaries. Under no circumstances is sexual touch or inappropriate physical contact permitted.

8. Authority and Responsibility

Facilitators recognize the responsibility that comes with their role and do not misuse their position of authority. They refrain from imposing personal beliefs or worldviews on participants and foster an environment of open exploration and personal growth.

9. Feedback and Complaints

Participants are encouraged to voice any issues, and facilitators are committed to resolving them with fairness and transparency.

10. Testimonial Use

Any nominative testimonials or personal experiences shared by participants are used only with written consent and under strict conditions that protect anonymity and privacy.

11. Financial Transparency

Facilitators ensure transparency regarding business relationships. Participants are informed about any costs or financial expectations before, during, and after the retreat.

12. Participant Responsibilities

Participants are informed of their responsibilities during the retreat, including adhering to the guidelines set forth by facilitators. We advise participants to avoid making major life decisions for at least two months following the retreat.

13. Health and Safety Protocols

We adhere to strict health and safety protocols. Tangerine has established comprehensive emergency protocols to effectively manage mental, spiritual, and physical health crises that may arise before, during, and after the experiences.

14. Facilitator Qualifications

All facilitators at Tangerine Retreat possess extensive personal experience with altered states of consciousness and have a deep understanding of the effects and interactions of psilocybin. They are dedicated to ongoing education and training to maintain the highest standards of care. Facilitators are well-informed about contraindications for psychedelic experiences and understand the potential interactions between substances, medications, and supplements. They are adept at recognizing and managing the diverse range of experiences participants may encounter, including challenging or difficult situations. However, facilitators do not provide medical advice.

15. Professional Integrity

Facilitators at Tangerine Retreat maintain high standards of professional integrity. They do not make exaggerated claims about the effects of psilocybin and are transparent about their qualifications and the nature of the retreat.

16. Legal and Ethical Compliance

Facilitators operate in full compliance with Dutch laws and regulations regarding psilocybin use. They are committed to ethical practices and continuously seek to improve their understanding of the psychedelic process and power dynamics within a retreat setting.

17. Facilitator-Participant Ratio

To ensure personalized care, we maintain a maximum ratio of participants per facilitator of 3:1 during group experiences and 1:1 during private sessions.

18. Commitment to Respect and Safety

All external guides, third parties, and volunteers working with Tangerine Retreat, and all participants are required to adhere to this code of conduct, ensuring a safe, respectful, and enriching experience for all involved.
